Founded in 2024, Venu Vedh - The Bamboo Research Foundation is a pioneering institution dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and scientific advancement in the bamboo sector. We work towards developing appropriate cultivation and production techniques, value-added bamboo products, and sustainable market linkages.

Our multidisciplinary team of researchers, industry experts, and collaborators work across a range of focus areas - from advanced cultivation techniques and biochar production to enhancing climate resilience and the economic empowerment of bamboo farmers. Dr. Hemant Bedekar is a Ph.D. in Botany from Pune University and a passionate resource person with 50+ years of experience in research. His expertise encompasses:

Throughout his distinguished career, he has:

Worked with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and several other organizations
Published several research papers
Delivered 500+ lectures on botany, bamboo, and organic farming

With his deep knowledge and extensive experience, Dr. Bedekar brings invaluable expertise to the fields of agriculture and environment sustainability.

VINAY KOLTE
Director
Naturalist & Herpetofauna Expert
Driven by a passion for sustainability, Vinay transitioned from a successful corporate engineering career to environmental conservation. Recognizing the potential of bamboo for ecological restoration, reforestation, and economic empowerment, he founded “The Bamboo Nursery,” which supplies high-quality saplings and chemically treated poles while actively promoting the numerous benefits of bamboo.
Key initiatives and contributions include:

Educating students, farmers, and corporations on sustainable development through bamboo
Valuable efforts in both environmental conservation and rural empowerment.

Today, Vinay Kolte is recognized as a leading Indian expert in his field, with his work demonstrating how engineering insights, combined with environmental passion, can drive meaningful change.

DR. MEDHA JOSHI
Director
Biotechnology & Sustainable Agriculture Expert
Dr. Medha Joshi holds a Doctorate in Biotechnology (Plant Tissue Culture) and has worked on the commercial propagation of Bamboo species with eminent institutions such as the National Chemical Laboratory and Jnana Prabodhini Biotechnology Lab. With over two decades of industrial experience, she has dedicated her career to research, development, and the commercialization of scientific-based agri-inputs.
Her expertise and contributions include:

Conducting laboratory research along with the scale-up and standardization of safe, residue-free, organic-based liquid fertilizers and pesticides
Working closely with farmers on-field since 1999 to understand their challenges and guide them gradually toward sustainable farming practices
Leading Supadma Organic Pvt. Ltd., a company that bulk manufactures organic-based liquid fertilizers for bamboo nurseries and plantations

Dr. Joshi's work bridges advanced biotechnology research with grassroots farming practices, making her a strong advocate for sustainable and eco-friendly agriculture.

Dr. RADHIKA KANADE

Radhika Kanade is an accomplished ecologist deeply committed to the fields of ecology, conservation, and sustainability. With a doctorate in Forest Ecology, she has gained extensive experience as a field ecologist through years of dedicated work in the biodiverse Western Ghats and Eastern Himalayas, focusing on intricate plant-environment interactions and ecological dynamics.
